Gauteng news- Introducing skills of daily living to The Wild Lions Club
Our good friends from the Wilds Lions Club once again supported South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind (GDA) earlier this year with their 32nd year of contributing to the Working Dog Sponsorship programme – and we are sincerely grateful for their continued support.
During a visit to their meeting on 13 June, Pieter GDA Head Public Relations and O’Reilly Guide Dog, accompanied by Willemien Kleijn from our College of Orientation and Mobility (COM) represented GDA. Willemien introduced the services offered by COM and explained money identification to the group, whereafter the two youngest club members were challenged with sighted guide techniques – one being under blindfold and the other one to act as the guide.
President, Mark Meltzer, presented Willemien afterwards with a Lions banner as token of their continued support! The club’s support to GDA is raised through their Christmas cake sales – and anyone who wish to support them can contact Mark directly for more information.
