Our team of Pawsome Volunteers and Puppy Raisers are central to what we do, and we are always looking for volunteers to assist with puppy raising and fostering dogs-in-training or to assist at fundraising events.

Puppy Raisers provide a safe, loving home for a future Assistance Dog during the first 16–18 months of its life. During this time, they lay the foundation for the puppy’s future success by teaching good manners, building confidence, and exposing the puppy to a wide variety of people, places, sounds, and everyday experiences.
Using positive reinforcement, and with the ongoing support of a dedicated Puppy Raising Supervisor, Puppy Raisers help prepare their puppy for formal training.

Broodstock holders are either Puppy Raisers or an approved member of the public who maintains the brood in optimal health, brings her for monthly health checks and adheres to regulations required for the safekeeping of these highly valuable dogs. Specific criteria apply to these families

Weekend homers are members of the public who’re willing and qualified to take care of an adult dog in formal training from Friday to Monday and / or public holidays. We ask that the dog/s are simply given TLC and a safe home to rest after a week of training. Specific criteria apply to be approved.
